March Meeting Recap

Things have been a bit quiet on our blog lately due to a few technical issues - but I think they are all sorted out now, so I'm hoping to get our blog up to date over the next week. I'll start with a recap of our March meeting today and then share the photos from our February and December meetings soon. Apologies for the radio silence here over the last few months!

Our second weekend sewing day was held in mid-February, and our dedicated team of TMQG members starting working on our raffle quilt. We worked on a pattern by Carolyn Friedlander called Aerial (available at Frangipani Fabrics), using vibrant solid fabrics. This is a foundation paper pieced pattern, and several of our members had never used this technique before but did a fabulous job making blocks. These are the blocks that were finished at our sewing day. A few more to make, but it is looking fantastic so far! Thanks so much to everyone who came along and helped sew.

We shared these blocks at the meeting in March. We also had some wonderful quilts shared for Show and Tell. Show and Tell is a really important part of our meetings, and it is so lovely to see what everyone has been working on and to hear the stories behind the quilts.

Shirley, Briony, Lauren and Deb showed the results of their hard work at the sewing day.

Debbie's gorgeous Cotton & Steel quilt.

Shirley shared three (!!) quilty finishes. This gorgeous little quilt,

her beautiful sea horse quilt

and her stunning 'College for Rabbits' quilt, made using Tula Pink's City Sampler book.

There were a few other gorgeous quilts shared as well, although I don't have the names of who made these (so if you are reading this and know who made these last three, please leave a comment so I can update the post with the makers!!)

Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the March meeting due to illness, as I was hoping to share some of the quilts from QuiltCon along with some of my QuiltCon experience - so that will be happening at our April meeting, along with a giveaway of a QuiltCon swag bag which is packed to the hilt with quilty goodies!

Our next meeting will be held at 6pm on the 1st of April at the Buckingham Rowing Club, upstairs in the function room. We hope to see you there!

  1. The "Linked Hearts" quilt was designed and made by Peta Howell and quilted by Wendy Gleeson of Clever Ducks quilting. (It is the whopping purple and orange quilt!)

  2. The quilt with the colourful rectangles & appliqued flowers was made by Pam Harvey.

  3. Wow! I love the photos that you've shared. It's so nice to see what others are working on around the world!
